What is Change Work?
Process of facilitating positive changes in a person's thoughts, feelings, behaviours, or overall well-being through therapeutic interventions.

“Jānis is gentle, friendly, down to earth and a caring therapist, who brings ease and comfort for a good therapy session. Not too forceful and doesn't make me uncomfortable by forcing some therapeutic ways that have been too soon for me with previous therapists. Although can be well-timed with some minor push-from-the-back to reveal more in-depth information that can lead to better results, which is important because these things in sessions make you think the most. I definitely recommend Jānis, especially if you have tried different therapists and haven't quite found the one to vibe well with yet.”

“The therapy experience with Janis was deeply supportive and empowering. Janis is an exceptionally good listener and was able to create a safe environment where I felt comfortable sharing my thoughts and feelings. He guided the session skillfully, giving me space and time to find answers without pressure. I especially appreciated that he took notes, which were visible to me as well. This allowed me to see, during the session, where we had started and how we progressed step by step. Seeing these notes helped me make connections and better understand my inner world. Janis used various techniques that turned out to be unexpectedly effective for me. The whole process was emotionally diverse – at one point, my eyes were filled with tears of sadness, and at another, with joy. This showed me that I had the opportunity to work through my emotions safely and connect with them. I found clarity on some issues and now feel stronger and better equipped to move forward. Thank you”

“At the session, we immediately addressed a topic that was on my mind. The tool Janis used, an eye movement technique, was incredibly fast and easy to follow. The effect was so quick it was hard to believe. Right after using the technique, I felt different emotions compared to before, such as sadness/compassion towards myself or irritation towards the situation (irritation is actually a very good thing because it provides the energy to make changes!).
The second feeling I experienced was a sense of distance from the painful memory, as if I were observing the situation from a grown-up perspective. This change in perspective gave me the knowledge I needed—that I am no longer a small child who has to deal with unfair situations or hide her feelings. Then, through powerful yet simple questions, we ended up drawing, which was much more informative than I had expected. The drawing of myself clearly explained my current situation, and we identified additional underlying feelings to address. For me, knowledge is power, so understanding where my feelings come from automatically helps to resolve them to some extent. Lastly, we did a self-concept exercise, which involves changing your self-image based on facts.
Again, knowledge is power, and this exercise helps your mind either prove or disprove the beliefs and thoughts you previously held about yourself. It’s a super powerful yet simple tool to change your self-perspective. It’s also a good tool to take home and use on your own. Our minds play many tricks, and this tool helps your mind actually assist you not work against you. The great thing about these techniques is that if you don’t want to delve deeply into explaining your detailed memories and pain points, there’s no need for that.
The technique requires you to connect with the feeling itself, without thoroughly explaining the memories. These techniques work incredibly fast, and the amount of emotions we tackled in just one session was significant.
**What changed?**
Immediately after the therapy, I felt lighter, and my body, especially my shoulders, were relaxed. But overall, how do you know that therapy actually works? For me, I notice myself thinking differently—some standard, usual thoughts have started to change, and I discover this as if by chance. From there, changes in behavior follow; I notice myself behaving differently in certain situations than I would have before.
This change feels spontaneous and usually comes with ease. The presenting topic for me was work-related, and actually, some days after the therapy, real-life changes in my work situation happened!! Additionally, I feel more compassion and kindness towards myself, and I notice new kinds of thoughts appearing. Looking forward to what else is about to come.
**How is Janis as a therapist?**
Janis is calm and dedicated. You can see and feel his sincere interest in you as a person. He engages well with you and the topic you are addressing, while keeping you on track and leading the process.
He reads you well as a person and makes excellent connections and conclusions. With Janis, there is a sense of confidence and safety—you know that nothing bad can happen. He has the solutions, as well as the power, knowledge, and tools needed to hold the space and help you reach a better place.
Janis is an excellent example of a man on a mission who sincerely, and with all his heart, wants to connect with you on a deeper level and make your life feel a bit better every time you meet him.”

“I turned to Janis at a low point in my career as well as my personal life. I lacked purpose and direction, life overall seemed bleak and lonely. With ease Janis was able to create a safe space for me to be vulnerable and open, he listened and provided comfort when appropriate. Along with guiding me through difficulties with practical advice and applicable self-care practices. I was very much looking forward to my sessions with him, as I felt heard and supported. At that time of my life he represented a big brother figure, someone that was there for me. Janis is a sincere and calm person with a wicked sense of humor and a warm smile.”
